Meet the Playwrites

Cris Blak

Cris Eli Blak is an award winning and internationally produced writer for the page, stage and screen. His work has garnered him a Bronze Remi from the Worldfest Houston International Film and Video Festival, the Christopher Hewitt Award in Fiction, a Pushcart Prize nomination and honors from Vectis Radio, Negro Ensemble Company, Clocktower Players and A is For.

His work has been produced, performed and/or published around the world, from Off-Broadway (Urban Stages and Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre), West Coast (Common Ground Theatre, Left Edge Theatre and Breath of Fire Latina Theater Ensemble), Collegiate (Columbia University, Academy of Arts University and Wellesley College), London (The Quean's Theatre and Flawstate), Australia (Melting Pot Theatre), and Ireland (Eva's Echo).

He is developing new work with Derby City Playwrights, The Road Theatre, Imaginarium Theatre Company and Et Alia Theater. He continues to strive to create work that reflects the world that we live in, with all of its different and diverse colors, creeds and cultures.

Joseph Arnone

Joseph Arnone is a writer, director, actor and producer for theatre, film and the internet. He began his journey studying acting at his local neighborhood theatre in Queens, New York at the Theatre Next Door, before venturing out into Manhattan and acting with The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, Neighborhood Playhouse, Gene Frankel Theatre, Stella Adler Studio and Robert X. Modica Studio, while attending The Professional Children's School. Along the way he appeared in films for NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Columbia University and Hunter College.

He continued acting on the stage for the Barter Theatre, Ensemble Studio Theatre, 13th Street Repertory, Harold Clurman Theatre, Pulse Ensemble Theatre, Pelican Theatre, Cherry Lane Theatre Reading Series as well as guest starring roles on television.

Joseph performed in indie films and was accepted into the Sundance Institute's Short Film Program as Filmmaker/Writer. Joseph's plays have been performed at Tank Theatre, American Theatre of Actors, Producers Club, Kennedy Center, Vero Beach Guild – Online Series, Equity Benevolent Fund and Cleveland Public Theatre Dark Room Series, Chekhov Theatre, Midtown International Theatre Festival and Manhattan Repertory Theatre.

Films written/directed by Joseph Arnone have been screened at Cannes Court Metrage- Short Film Corner, Newport Beach Film Festival, Big Apple Film Festival, New Renaissance Film Festival (UK), Los Angeles Film Awards, New York Film Awards, Silicon Beach Film Festival, Festigious International Film Festival, Best Actors Film Festival and others.

Joseph won the Best Short Film award for his film 98ST Playland at the Mindfield Film Festival of Los Angeles. Joseph's screenplays have been featured on the MTV Network and performed/filmed at the New York Film Academy, USC Cinematic Arts and festivals such as the yearly Mandy Monologue Competition.
